Seaworthiness
Hanse 400e is a performance cruiser with a modern hull design that combines good speed with easy handling. Thanks to the wide stern and deep keel, the boat is stiff and stable in fresh winds. The boat is dry and safe, even in rough seas.

• Large sail area gives good performance in light winds.
• Planing hull shape gives high speed on the sail and mainsail.
• Self-tacking jib makes maneuvering easy, especially for solo sailing.
• Epoxy hull ("e" for epoxy) provides lower weight and higher strength than regular polyester boats.
• Wide stern provides good stability and space, but can make the boat more sensitive to waves from behind.
• Stiff boat, can withstand a lot of sail guidance before reefing is necessary.
• Deep keel provides good stability and cruising characteristics.

Engine and mechanical
Yanmar 3JH4 39 hp diesel, approx. 2,600 hours. Sail drive with Flexofold propeller. Bow thruster makes maneuvering in narrow harbors easier.
